Privacy Policy

This policy covers Wobbly for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Have Wobbly TV for Apple TV instead? See the Wobbly TV Privacy Policy — it's a separate product with no ads and different data practices.

Wobbly Generative Art ("Wobbly", "the App") is developed and published by Embay, LLC. This privacy policy explains how the App and this website (trywobbly.com) handle your information — see Contact below for our full data-controller details.

What Wobbly Itself Collects

The App itself collects zero user data. Specifically:

• No accounts or sign-in — the App has no user accounts
• No first-party analytics or tracking — no Firebase, no Mixpanel, no telemetry
• No location data — not requested or used
• No camera or microphone — not requested or used
• No contacts, calendar, or health data
• No cookies — the internal WebView loads only local bundled files
• No data leaves your device except for the single ad request described below (free users only)

Advertising (Free Users Only)

Free users see one native ad in the gallery, placed at the top of the locked wobbles section. The ad is served by Google AdMob in non-personalized mode (the SDK's npa=1 flag). This means:

• No App Tracking Transparency prompt — Wobbly does not request permission to track you
• No IDFA — the Identifier for Advertisers is never read or transmitted
• No personalized advertising — ads are not selected based on your interests, browsing history, or activity in other apps
• No cross-app or cross-site tracking by Wobbly

The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects standard non-personalized advertising metrics. As declared in the App's privacy manifest, these include:

• Device ID — used by AdMob for non-personalized advertising and analytics; not linked to your identity, not used for tracking
• Product Interaction — taps and impressions on the ad itself
• Advertising Data — non-personalized ad-targeting signals
• Crash Data and Other Diagnostic Data — for SDK stability analytics

None of this data is linked to your identity or used to track you across apps or websites. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Wobbly+ removes ads entirely. Wobbly+ users make no network requests for advertising, and the Google Mobile Ads SDK is not initialised for them. Mac (Mac Catalyst) users also never see ads, because the Google Mobile Ads SDK does not support Mac and is excluded from the Mac build.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored locally and never leaves your device:

• Favorites: Your saved favorite wobbles
• Per-wobble settings: Color theme, parameter values, and gyroscope toggle for each wobble
• Purchase state: Whether you have purchased Wobbly+, verified against Apple's StoreKit

This data is removed when you delete the App.

Device Permissions

• Photo Library (Add Only): Requested only when you export a live wallpaper. Write-only access — Wobbly cannot read your existing photos.
• Gyroscope / Accelerometer: Used for motion-based interaction. No iOS permission dialog is required for this sensor.

In-App Purchases

Wobbly+ is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2. Wobbly does not process, store, or have access to your payment information. Apple's own privacy policy governs payment processing.

Children's Privacy

Wobbly does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. Wobbly itself collects no data; the AdMob ads served to free users are non-personalized and do not use the IDFA. The App is rated 4+ on the App Store.

Third-Party Services

Wobbly uses the following third-party services:

• Apple StoreKit 2 — handles the Wobbly+ in-app purchase. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
• Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) — serves the single non-personalized ad shown to free iOS users in the gallery. See the "Advertising" section above. Governed by Google's privacy policy. Not included in the Mac (Mac Catalyst) build.

All generative art animations themselves run entirely on your device with no network dependency.

Website Analytics (trywobbly.com)

This website uses Google Analytics 4 (gtag, property G-P0J59QYL37) to understand aggregate visitor traffic. This applies only to your use of the website and is separate from the App, which contains no analytics. Where required, this processing is carried out on the basis of your consent.

GDPR/UK GDPR details — legal bases, recipients, transfers, retention & rights

Purposes and Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so under Article 6 GDPR:

• Non-personalized advertising (App, free users) — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). To keep the App free, free users are shown a single non-personalized ad served by Google AdMob. Ads run with the SDK's npa=1 flag, so no App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown, the IDFA is never read, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking of you occurs. Our legitimate interest is funding a free App while minimizing data use; this is balanced against your rights by the fact that advertising is non-personalized and no tracking identifier is used.
• Website analytics (trywobbly.com) — consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). Google Analytics 4 measures aggregate website traffic. You may withhold or withdraw consent at any time (for example, through your browser or cookie controls), with no effect on your ability to use the App.
• In-app purchase (Wobbly+) — contract (Art. 6(1)(b)). The one-time, non-consumable Wobbly+ purchase is handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2 in order to provide the product you have requested.

Categories of Personal Data

Embay, LLC itself collects no personal data through the App. The limited data described above is handled by our service providers:

• App (free users): Google AdMob processes a non-personalized device identifier and standard ad-interaction, diagnostic, and crash signals (as described in the "Advertising" section). This is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you.
• Website: Google Analytics 4 processes standard analytics data such as an anonymized identifier, approximate location derived from IP address, device/browser information, and pages viewed.
• Purchases: Apple processes the information necessary to complete a Wobbly+ purchase. We do not receive your payment details.

Recipients

We share personal data only with the service providers necessary to operate the App and website. We do not sell your personal data. Our providers are:

• Apple Inc. — App distribution and the Wobbly+ in-app purchase (StoreKit). See the Apple Privacy Policy.
• Google LLC (AdMob) — serves the single non-personalized ad shown to free App users. See the Google Privacy Policy.
• Google LLC (Google Analytics) — website traffic analytics for trywobbly.com. See the Google Privacy Policy.

International Transfers

Our service providers (Apple and Google) are based in the United States and may process personal data in the US and in other countries. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA or the UK, these providers rely on their own safeguards, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data Retention

Embay, LLC retains no personal data about you itself. Data on your device (favorites, per-wobble settings, and purchase state) persists until you delete the App. Website analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured on our Google Analytics property. Advertising and purchase data are retained by Google and Apple respectively under their own policies.

Your Rights

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the following rights over your personal data under the GDPR:

• Access — to obtain confirmation of, and a copy of, personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — to have inaccurate personal data corrected.
• Erasure — to have your personal data deleted.
• Restriction — to restrict processing in certain circumstances.
• Objection — to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Portability — to receive your personal data in a portable format.
• Withdrawal of consent — to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (such as website analytics), without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@trywobbly.com. Because Embay, LLC holds no personal data about you itself, some requests may need to be directed to the relevant provider (Apple or Google); we will help you do so where appropriate.

Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you are in the EEA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. A list of national authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board at edpb.europa.eu. If you are in the UK, you may contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Automated Decision-Making and Profiling

We do not carry out any automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning you within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

Source of Data and Provision of Data

Any personal data processed in connection with the App or website is obtained only directly from your use of them, not from third-party sources. You are under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide personal data. Providing such data is optional; the only consequence of declining (for example, by removing ads through Wobbly+ or by declining website analytics) is that you will not receive the corresponding optional feature.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this policy.

For the purposes of the EU GDPR and the UK GDPR, Embay, LLC is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, and given the scale and nature of our processing we are not required to.
